Monroe Demographics

James Monroe Elementary School is located in the West Logan Square Community with a current student enrollment of 1268 students, preschool through eighth grade.  Our racial/ethnic composition is 90.2 % Hispanic, 2.7% Caucasian, 3.2% African-American and . 2% Asian Pacific.  There are 81 students with disabilities (6.3%).  Our attendance rate is 95.0% with a student mobility rate of 20.9% and 94.3% low income . Also, 34.1% LEP.

Our average class size is 23.8 -Kdg.; 23.8 -Gr.1;  23.6 -Gr.3;  23.6 -Gr.6 and  25.8 -Gr.8. We are still an extremely overcrowded school, bussing approximately 91 students to other schools with vacancies.
