Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) PBIS Year 1 Monroe is excited to be in it's first full year of PBIS Implementation. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, and is a school-wide initiative to create a safe and respectful learning environment for all students. The students are encouraged to be responsible members of their school as well as their community. Students at Monroe are recognized for their positive behavior and Being Respectful, Responsible and Safe through praise and the distribution of Eagle Bucks. Once students have earned Eagle Bucks, they may enter them into a monthly classroom raffle. The class winner of the raffle can then participate in the monthly PBIS Celebration. So far, celebrations have included a Field Day, Pumpkin & Cookie Decorating Workshops, and a Scavenger Hunt. In addition, one homeroom for each department (primary, intermediate, and middle school) with the most eagle bucks for the month wins a trophy to house in their classroom. The students may also travel with their trophy throughout the school building when en route to special classes, lunchroom, assemblies, etc. Monroe's staff members are also recognized for serving as positive role models to the students and contributing to the efforts of PBIS. each month all staff are encouraged to nominate one teacher an one non-teacher for recognition.
